Representative Paul J. Donato (D-Medford) has been in the Massachusetts House of Representatives for eleven terms. Prior to entering the Legislature in 2001, he served on the Medford School Committee, the Medford City Council (serving as Mayor and Council President).
Paul is the Sponsor for An Act related to emergency paid sick time. The Act would provide ten additional sick days to families not protected by federal Families First Coronavirus Response Act. He along with his colleagues, did not give up until it was signed into law.
Paul was the Lead Sponsor of the “Distracted Driving Bill,” that banned handheld use of cell phones in all motor vehicles. This bill will make the roads safer for drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians.
Paul co-sponsored the “100% Renewable Energy Act,” so Massachusetts can use 100% renewable electricity by 2035
Paul was Lead Sponsor of the “School Bus Transportation Safety Bill,” legislation that mandates video monitoring of all public school buses to ensure our kids are safe traveling to and from school.
Paul has always fought for and delivered for his constituents in Malden and Medford. He recently secured $200,000 in funding for SCM Transportation for Medford and surrounding communities, and won $100,000 in funding for Malden park renovations
Paul was Lead Sponsor of the “Tax Abatement Bill for Disabled Veterans and Gold Star Families." This bill provides tax relief for disabled veterans and for Gold Star families.
Paul co-sponsored the “Student Opportunity Act,” that provides $1.5 billion in aid to the Commonwealth's schools, and ensure that all children are treated equally and fairly.
Paul co-sponsored H. 1709, a bill that will ban the horrifying practice of child marriage in Massachusetts.
