Congressman Jake Ellzey proudly represents Texas' 6th congressional district which spans from the Rangers Ballpark in Tarrant County to the booming suburbs of Ellis and Navarro Counties. Ellzey, a native Texan, lives with his wife Shelby and their two children on a ten-acre ranch in Ellis County, where they have spent the last decade.
At the age of seven, Jake decided he wanted to become a fighter pilot. Fifteen years later, he was a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. Since his graduation, Ellzey has served our country and Texas for over 33 years.
One of the Federal government's main duties to protect its borders and citizens from foreign adversaries. I believe that we must secure our border, stop the smuggling of illicit drugs such as Fentanyl, prevent the humanitarian crisis, and reduce illegal immigration. We are a country of laws, and it is important that we uphold those laws. In Congress, I will vote to increase funding for US Border Patrol and reimburse Texas for efforts to safeguard our border. Some of my efforts include:
America was built on the idea of capitalism and free-market principles, and in Congress, I vow to stand against efforts to impose socialism ideals in our country. We must let businesses get back to business without government interference and allow honest Americans to make an honest living.
We must stop apologizing for American excellence and instead encourage the export and trade of American goods to bolster the global economy. "Made in America" must return. We have to encourage American businesses to make American produces for the American people. A rising tide lifts all ships, and a strong economy is good for Americans as well as our global partners.
I am a pro-growth conservative who believes that low taxes and regulations lead to greater opportunity and job growth. It is critical that we don't allow government red tape to hinder our global competitiveness. In Congress, I will vote to cut wasteful government spending and streamline our tax code to create incentivizes for all businesses to hire more workers and invest in America. Some of my efforts include:
Our schools should be places to equip the next generation of leaders. As a father with two children in public school, I'm committed to making sure our public schools are strong and well-equipped to tackle the tough job of teaching our kids. The Texas Legislature recently passed an expansion of rural broadband to help combat the new challenges to our schools brought up by COVID-19. I was grateful for the opportunity to co-author that legislation, and I look forward to bringing that mentality to Congress.
In Texas, we have some of the best teachers in the world. I want to see them supported and given the resources they need to help our kids succeed. We must stop forcing teachers to comply with radical indoctrination and get the focus back on education. We must invest in our children. They are the future of this nation. Some of my efforts include:
Under Secretary Perry and President Trump, America was a net exporter of energy. While in Congress, I will support policies and initiatives that regain our energy independence and reassert ourselves as the world leader in energy production. Again, it is time that we put American energy first and allow for greater innovation, research, and development. This will secure us from the domestic impacts of international conflicts that influence the global energy market and allow us to better support the American people. Some of my efforts include:
Job number one of any government is to protect its people. As a former Navy Commander, I am a strong advocate for policies that will increase support for our Armed Forces and our National Security. Now, more than ever, America's leadership on the global stage is critical. As we enter a new age of military tactics and warfare, we must stay up to date in our technological capabilities by continuing to fund our military's research and development to stay ahead of foreign adversaries. Some of my efforts include:
Those who honorably served in our armed services deserve our appreciation and support. I was honored to work alongside outstanding men and women over my 20 years in the Navy. I will honor their service and sacrifice with diligent effort to support their needs during their transition from active duty and in their post-military lives. Our armed services men and women have fought to ensure the lives, liberty, and freedoms that we all enjoy today and in future generations. It is only fitting that we, in turn, support them.
I will always stand with our military veterans and will stand against any and all attacks against them. Some of my efforts include:
