Making the Tax Code Work for Working Americans

Peter strongly supports reforming the tax code to make it work for hard-working Americans rather than the top one percent.

Fighting to pass the Build Back Better Act to reform our tax code, including:
- Maintaining the expanded Earned Income Tax Credit
- Reviving expanded monthly payments for the Child Tax Credit and increasing the value of the tax credit
- Increasing taxes on the wealthiest individuals and multinational corporations to make sure they pay their fair share of taxes
Combating outsourcing of American jobs and corporate tax inversions
- Cosponsored H.R.1785, the No Tax Breaks for Outsourcing Act, which would level the playing field for US based companies by ensuring that multinationals pay the same tax rate on profits earned abroad as they do here at home
Improving IRS service
- Led the VT congressional delegation in a letter to the IRS asking the agency to better prepare for the upcoming tax filing seasons
