  • Cosponsored the Green New Deal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and avoid the worst consequences of climate change while addressing problems of economic inequality and racial injustice
     
• Advance energy efficiency to create jobs, save consumers money, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions
  • Led critical efficiency legislation in Congress, including the Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act and a federal energy efficiency standard bill
     
• Deploy renewable energy across the United States
  • Authored a bill calling for 70% renewable energy by 2030, which would help us address climate change now  
     
• Ensure American homes are safe, healthy, and energy-efficient
  • Championed the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) to support low-income families with energy costs and authored the Hope for Homes Act to provide rebates for home energy savings and installation of efficient home appliances
