ESTELA REYES wasn't born wealthy. She was raised by working-class parents in the Dominican Republic, from whom she learned what it takes to provide for the family- and their community. She moved from city of Santiago de los Caballeros in the Dominican Republic to Lawrence, Massachusetts over thirty years ago. Estela became a homeowner at the age of twenty, thanks to her financial discipline, commitment, and determination.
As a member of the Community Development Block Grant Advisory Board, I have worked with community organizations that provide for populations such as youth, veterans, and adults seeking education services to provide them with extra funding to create a better life for their clients while enhancing our environment for our growing diverse community.
As a real estate investor, I understand the struggles and challenges of being a homeowner as well as a renter, and will work to establish guidelines that promote equitable housing for our communities.
Lastly, I will work with our local business owners to create a sustainable and accessible environment. I will work with my colleagues to acquire funding for long-term investments in Lawrence and Methuen’s economies. We must work together to encourage the redevelopment of land and buildings, not properly utilized, for business growth and the creation of 21st-century infrastructure.
