I was born in the inner city of Houston, Texas, and raised by my mother in a single-parent household. As the oldest of four children, I had to take up the role of caregiver for my three younger siblings while my mother worked full-time. As the sole breadwinner of our household, she always put food on the table and taught us never to give up regardless of our circumstances. I joined the workforce to support my family and myself at a very young age. As a person with mild dyslexia, it only added more challenges and stresses to get through high school and work a full schedule simultaneously.
Elaine is not a career politician. Her first passion is God, then service, and lastly, filmmaking. She uses her skills as an avenue to tell the stories of those that cannot tell their own. She has worked diligently and relentlessly to commit her time and talents to mentoring youth, counseling mothers in need, sheltering displaced animals, and serving others in her neighborhood and throughout other communities. Her faith, the devotion to her community, and seeing people suffer as they have lost their businesses, homes, jobs, and as children have struggled learning due to schools being shut down. The abuse of legislative power and mandates is what has fueled her passion and has inspired her to run for California State Assembly 54th District. Elaine plans to serve AD54 by:
