Republican (1854-present) 2022 State Assembly Member

Elaine Alaniz

I was born in the inner city of Houston, Texas, and raised by my mother in a single-parent household. As the oldest of four children, I had to take up the role of caregiver for my three younger siblings while my mother worked full-time. As the sole breadwinner of our household, she always put food on the table and taught us never to give up regardless of our circumstances. I joined the workforce to support my family and myself at a very young age. As a person with mild dyslexia, it only added more challenges and stresses to get through high school and work a full schedule simultaneously.

Economic And Budget Responsibility

The job growth has dramatically decreased throughout Los Angeles. CD54 has seen a high portion of small businesses permanently abandoned due to stringent and impossible policies imposed by Los Angeles City Council Members. With many companies suffering due to staffing shortages and inflation going through the roof, Elaine will prioritize jump-starting our district by:

  • Set forth fiscally conservative practices to promote economic prosperity and long-term sustainability.
  • Partner with Legislative State and Federal California Agencies to implement and execute plans that will bring relief to the residents of Los Angles with programs, such as a designated "No Sales Tax Holiday" that will promote the purchase of energy-efficient appliances, school supplies, clothing, emergency preparedness supplies, and groceries.
  • Explore innovative revenue sources, particularly those that will not add to the tax burden of residents and local businesses.
  • Partner with Legislative State Agencies to present and motion plans to provide tax breaks to property owners that offer relief and help keep rent lower for tenants.
  • Revisit and reevaluate the current CalFresh and Medi-Cal eligibility programs, set standards and residency status of one year to qualify for short-term benefits, duplicate the Financial Aid and Tuition guidelines to reflect the same standards equally to all California residents.
  • California State Assembly members have a responsibility to act as a fiscal watchdog and work toward a truly balanced budget, transparency, and accountability for the tax payers throughout California, I will be the advocate for AD 54 and hold fellow colleagues accountable for responsible spending.
  • Assist our small businesses back to recovery by working in good cause to remove mandates and impossible regulations yoked upon local business owners.
