Elaine Alaniz

I was born in the inner city of Houston, Texas, and raised by my mother in a single-parent household. As the oldest of four children, I had to take up the role of caregiver for my three younger siblings while my mother worked full-time. As the sole breadwinner of our household, she always put food on the table and taught us never to give up regardless of our circumstances. I joined the workforce to support my family and myself at a very young age. As a person with mild dyslexia, it only added more challenges and stresses to get through high school and work a full schedule simultaneously.

Education And Trade Preparation

Many residents in AD54 desire to work and build a future for their families, but few have the certifications or education to prove that they are qualified. Then on the other spectrum, we have students that have fallen behind because of extended school closings that have diminished school standards fused by political agendas. Elaine will empower the constituents who desire a future in the workforce and support parents of students to restore excellence in education by:

  • Ensure parental rights are protected; parents should have the right to provide for their children's care, custody, companionship, and management, including the right to make educational and medical decisions.
  • Reallocate unspent COVID-19 funds to programs that will get our students back on track, with a high emphasis on tutoring and after-school programs.
  • Work closely with the California Department of Education and Superintendents to keep schools open safely five days a week and invest in school curriculums that advance our student's education and life skills, such as science, technology, engineering, art, math, and religious studies electives.
  • Implement a more vital plan to connect community providers in partnerships to set forth resources for the community(housing information, job training, trade certifications, emergency services, community college, crisis and gang prevention, legal and immigration services, GED and High school completion).
  • Restore future expectations of success by investing in "every student" in college preparation courses or career-ready training by bringing vocational training to middle and high schools (cosmetology, culinary arts, notary, construction, filmmaking, EMT, firefighter, and police officer academy training).
  • Veterans: Expand better healthcare and workforce transition programs to get Veterans the care that they may need and good-paying jobs
  • Funding redistribution throughout AD 54 to guarantee that every neighborhood has a resource center for children and young adults, such as Police Activities League Sports, Big Brothers & Big Sisters programs and education advancement programs
  • Reinvigorate the community with frequent job fairs, workforce training, and self-enrichment classes.
