The daughter of a nurse and public school bus driver, both union members, Blanca Pacheco grew up in a working class community. Blanca understands the California Dream, because she and her family have lived it.
With an ever-evolving economy, California must do more to ensure our students receive a world-class education so they can be better prepared for the future. As a former substitute K-12 classroom teacher and adult school educator, I understand this firsthand. That’s why I strongly support ensuring high-quality early education and universal pre-K for all children. As a product of local public schools, I also believe we must invest more in public education so we can reduce classroom sizes which will help students get the attention they need and deserve. With additional investments, we can also help to fund more science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) courses, as well as expand the arts, music and extracurricular activities, along with after-school programs. When it comes to higher education, I strongly support California’s free community college efforts and believe we must make our universities more accessible and affordable for our state’s students.
